Virtual treatment is used to help with the pain relief, healing and rehabilitation of most medical and surgical conditions.

 

Physiotherapy is an appropriate treatment modality for a range of muscle, joint and nerve conditions whether resulting from injury, illness or disability.

The evidence base suggests that upto 60% of musculsoskeletal conditions can be managed remotely via exercise therapy physiotherapy programmes, lifestyle modifications and other ways you can reduce further muscle and joint problems.

What is Virtual Physiotherapy? How does it work?


Rehabplus virtual physiotherapy appointments are one-to-one video consultations delivered by Chartered Physiotherapists using Physiapp, an industry leading clinical web application designed specifically for Physiotherapy and telehealth consultations. Virtual consultations are an alternative to face to face clinic appointments but we achieve comparable outcomes to face to face in many conditions.

Who do I speak on my virtual online physiotherapy consultation?


All Rehabplus physiotherapists are registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).




What will happen during my virtual appointment?


The virtual assessment has been modified from a face to face appointment. However, due to the consultation taking place via video we still ask you to show us certain tests or tasks. Once establish any presenting problems with your condition or injury, the treating Physiotherapist with prescribe you a bespoke exercise programme to aid your recovery. The Physiotherapist will be able to play guided exercises video through Physioapp while on the call, allowing you to ask any questions you may have. The remot exercise programme will be discussed with you including the number of reps and sets and how often you will need to complete them. You access your programme via the app and leave feedback on your pain levels after doing each exercise, so your physiotherapist can track your progress. The programme will be then revised and discussed at subsequent virtual appointments.




What happens ahead of my first virtual appointment?


> If possible, please read all guidance set out in the email sent by our operations team, which confirms instructions ahead of your first appointment. Please download the app from the Google and Apple app stores as this will save time at the point of the consultation. > A few minutes ahead of the scheduled appointment time your Physiotherapist will send you an email (to the email you provided us on booking) with a secure link to click at the time of the appointment. When you click the secure link this will connect you to the call with the Physiotherapist. > Please try to complete any virtual appointments in a suitable location that offers you privacy as you may need to perform movements or share personal information. You will also need to be somewhere that the physio can see and hear you clearly. > Please ensure you have good signal, preferably connected to wifi, instead of cellular connection, with good battery life of the smart device or connected to the mains. > If you need to cancel your appointment or are having problems with your connection please contact our operations team on 01329 755 755.

Whats the difference between virtual physiotherapy, telehealth and telephysio?


In essence, all these terms are the same. Telehealth has been the long established term for the provision of any healthcare services delivered utilising telephone or technology instead of being delivered in person by a clinical practitioner. Telephysio or virtual physiotherapy are essentially the same thing and are terms for the use of technology led physiotherapy consultations rather than being undertaken in a face to face clinic setting.




What do I do if I need to reschedule my virtual appointment?


If you need to change your virtual appointment please contact our operations centre on 01329 755 755 who will reschedule your appointment to a mutually convenient time. Please ensure you provide a minimum of 24 hours notice or you may incur a late cancellation fee or have a session deducted from your session allocation if treatment is being funded by a third party.




How do I know if my device or connection is sufficient?


To make sure that your online physio appointment goes as we plan, please check your system ahead of the video call. Make sure you have the most recent version of Physiapp installed on your iOS or Android device. Make sure you have granted access to Physiapp to use your camera and microphone. If you're using a web browser: Make sure that you have a working camera and microphone. Make sure you are on a modern browser, preferably Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari or . What types of problems can virtual physiotherapy help?


Physiotherapy can be used to help manage a wide variety of health conditions that affect many of the body. These conditions frequently relate to problems with bones, nerves, joints and soft tissues. Lower or upper back, neck and joint pain may benefit from physiotherapy. Sports injuries, injuries resulting from accidents such as whiplash or rehabilitation after surgery or strokes can all result in the benefit of Physiotherapy. Advice is provided via a Telehealth platform and you will be provided a bespoke exercise programme via Physitrack/Physiapp .
